Others also provide nursing, and will have a nurse on duty twenty-four hours a day.
Situated on the outskirts of Macclesfield, Cheshire, Weston Park Care Home provides residential, respite and specialist care for the elderly and those suffering with dementia. With a few exceptions, accommodation in a care home cannot be bought or rented like retirement housing. Think of them more like full-board hotel accommodation with 24 hour care available. A care home is a residential setting where a number of older people live, usually in single rooms or hotel-style suites, because they need regular or continuous access to care. A final resident was quoted with "Weston Park is lovely… they are very good and caring… and I feel very safe." As part of the home's improvement plan, Activities Coordinator Alison Davis has been instrumental in helping to bring fun and entertainment back into the home. Life history is obtained for all residents on admission so that staff can gain insight into the person they are looking after. The programme includes handicrafts, gardening, quizzes, board games and jigsaws to name a few. We also have regular visits from entertainers, the PAT dog scheme and exercise classes. Our person centred approach means that each resident is an individual treated with respect and dignity. This will cover their personal and medical history, as well as a record of particular activities they enjoy and any cultural or religious aspects of their care. First to be completed will be the garden redesign project, which will be led by residents, relatives and staff collectively. Residents will also be able to enjoy a newly refurbished hairdresser room, which is being upgraded as part of the home's improvement project.
