Mrs. Carol Whitesell Smith, 86, of Burlington passed away peacefully on Monday, December 5, 2022. Dave formerly owned and operated Lowery Trucking and drove truck for over 50 years. He liked hunting and fishing on the Great Lakes with his boat "Miss Danielle." Dave and Joan enjoyed traveling together all over the world. He was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge in St. Louis, MI where he held many offices, including governor and he was also a member of the Teamsters.

He graduated from Tabor City High School in 1967 and continued his education at Wake Forest University from 1967 to 1970. He then attended the University of North Carolina from 1970 to 1973 where he received his Pharmaceutical Science degree. John Douglas Elliot, age 81 of Chadbourn, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022, at Columbus Regional Healthcare System. John Douglas was born on November 2, 1940, in New Hanover County, to the late Dr. George Douglas Elliot and Dorothy Dick Elliot. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jean Elliot. Dr. Wallace Yau Kee Chang, 99 of Lumberton, NC peacefully passed away at home on January 10th, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born on September 8th,1922 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the youngest of five children to Elizabeth and Phillip Chang.
